The Owl & the Pussy-cat ...

Being involved in textile crafts for many years and
while researching for a specific project, I found this written in one of my books:

Seek to understand the tradition, and the techniques
will regenerate within your imagination

My imagination has been a part of me since very young and found the above quote to be very true. A
favourite Edward Lear poem was "The Owl & the Pussy-cat" & as a result of reading it, one of the first items made when around the age of 9 or 10 was an appliqué mat (above). My sister and I were not allowed to have a cat so this was made and displayed on a cupboard top. When playing in the house by ourselves, it was placed over soft toys to imagine it had come alive.
